At the age of 18, his military service took him to French Polynesia where he embarked on a ship of the French Navy. He sailed the South Pacific for a year and made a stopover in Bora Bora, the Marquesas Islands, Mururoa and the Tuamotu Archipelago before returning to the mainland by the Panama Canal and the United States.

Anxious to keep track of his wonders, he photographs the landscapes that touch him and takes care to immortalize the place as much as his own emotions. His eye never leaves his used Nikkormat 24 × 36.
Michel Christens love affair with aerial photography is born from this intimate discovery of the beauty of the world and his professional project becomes obvious. Back in Alsace, he trained in the image and worked alongside great professionals: Eric Glanz and Frederic Langel.
He makes his first shots in advertising and then specializes in event reporting, industry and illustration. At the same time, he joined the photo service of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe.
