Biography of Jeppe Aakjaer: – Jeppe Aakjaer novelist and Danish poet, who was born 10 September 1866 in Denmark. He Belogs to a peasant family, a rigid practitioner of pietism, in his youth he alternated fieldwork with attendance at the popular school, in which he was influenced by the Grundtvigian interpretation of Christianity.
He himself narrates episodes of his childhood and youth in Years of childhood ( Drenge Aaar ), Adolescence ( Knøseaar ) and Before the day, as well as in the novel The son of the peasant ( Bondens Søn ).

At the end of the century he was a journalist for some years in Copenhagen, where he was attracted to the ideas of G. Brandes and to socialism.

He was considered an agitator, for being a prominent member of the reformist student movement inspired by Brandes.
The novel The Sons of Anger ( Vredens Børn , 1904), in which it expresses its protest before the exploitation of the rural jornaleros, ignited a debate that led to improvements in the situation of these workers.
In his next novel, Arbejdets glæde (1914), appears his love for the peasant lifestyle (threatened by the advances of industry) as well as the traditions and dialect of Jutland.
As soon as possible, he moved back to Jutland (1907), to continue there his literary works, occupying at the same time of the education of the peasants. Of the importance that he has for the book in the social struggle gives faith the novel Forces in ferment ( Hvor der er gaerende Kraefter ).
While aggressive and subversive accents prevail in his novels, his lyric is of greater merit, the more linked it appears to traditional values. His poetic works deserve to be noted Free Camp ( Fri Felt , 1905), Rye Songs ( Rugens Sange , 1906) and Under the evening star ( Under Aftenstjernen ).
His best known book is Rye Songs ; Includes poems of great sensuality to which the Danish composer Carl Nielsen put music, but neither in them is absent the social critic. He was a great novelist and great poet not only in the history of Denmark, but also in the entire world. He died in Denmark in 22th of April 1930.
