Biography of Shakib Al Hasan:- Shakib Al Hasan was born on 24th of March 1987 in Magura District Bangladesh. He is a man behind most of Bangladesh’s success in recent years.
Equipped with all the abilities to become one of the greatest cricketers in the world, Shakib got a platform somewhat inferior to showcase or polish his skills.
Though he overcame the situation and continued playing at higher levels despite Bangladesh having less quota of test cricket or bilateral series with the top nations because of their inferior performances in International cricket, Shakib rose Bangladesh to the top 8 in ODI format during his captaincy and later on as a player.

Shakib Al Hasan started off his career from tape ball cricket that was his most loved form of the game. He used to bat at middle order and bowls too in that position.
He was a fast left-hand bowler in early days of career later became an orthodox spin bowler when he started bowling with the proper hardball.
Shakib was part of Islampura cricket team from high school level; later he joined Bangladesh’s only national level cricket academy BKSP. With the consistency, Shakib Al Hasan became one of the leading all-rounders in Khulna Division.
He was soon selected for the Under-1 squad and played his first ever international event in a trilateral series comprising England and Sri Lanka. In the tri-nation series, Shakib was the shining star throughout the series.
His great inning that included a century off 86 balls along with three wickets led to the victory for Bangladesh. After the tri-nation series in 2005, Shakib was a superstar for Khulna Division, and he was the hottest candidate to compete in International cricket.
The next year in 2006, Shakib Al Hasan finally got a chance to play for the National side against Zimbabwe. Shakib toured Zimbabwe and scored important 30 runs with a wicket. Since then, he was hardly dropped for his performance from the team, Shakib was part of many International cricket leagues that gave a tremendous exposure and cleanliness in the overall batting style and technique.
Shakib became the best all-rounder in ICC rankings, Wisden termed him as a national icon and best all-rounder Bangladesh has ever produced in two decades of International cricket.
Shakib, during his career, has piled up more than 8000 runs and nine centuries that include a double hundred innings against New Zeland in harsh conditions for batsmen.
Early Domestic & International Career
Shakib Al Hasan was first recognized by a local umpire who was also a member of National Umpires panel for the national level cricket tournaments.
As a tape ball player, his talent was raw, and the potential level was oozing out to be utilized. He first joined Islam Pura Cricket Club; later his coaches suggested him to join Bangladesh’s national level cricket academy, Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Pratisthan (BKSP) to polish his skills for future.
He became a prominent all-rounder for Khulna Division and aUnder-19 team of Bangladesh. Shakib had an illustrious domestic career in two years before joining International cricket team.
He was already playing for Khulna Division since 2004. In 2006, after the Zimbabwe tour, Shakib Al Hasan practiced at National Academy for the bigger challenges to come.
Shakib, along with two youngsters, Mushfiqur Rahim and Farhad Reza were included for the overseas tour. Bangladesh lost the series with a tight contest in the whole tour. In the upcoming ICC WC, Bangladesh beat down India in group stages with Shakib scoring fifty to win the memorable game for Bangladesh against the tough opposition.
After a respectable performance in ICC World Cup 2007, Shakib was given test cap in 2007 against India. He couldn’t perform well against India in test and ODI series that followed, Bangladesh were beaten up badly in both the formats.
After the series with India, the next goal was to perform well in the Inaugural ICC T20 World Cup 2007 held in South Africa. Bangladesh won one out of five matches in the tournament, Shakib’s best performance was his first-ever 4-wicket haul (4/34), first ever by any Bangladeshi in T20 format against West Indies.
In the coming away series against New Zealand, Shakib Al Hasan was finally able to get his first test wicket. His batting abilities were still under scrutiny as he wasn’t any good in away matches. In 2008, Shakib Al Hasan completed his 1000 ODI runs with an average above 35 per inning.
Surging as the Best International All-rounder
After 2008, It was a whole new version of Shakib’s role in the team with the new coach appointed. He was given a special task to serve as an exceptional bowler rather than concentrating on batting.
He accepted the challenge in the home series against New Zealand taking seven wickets in the first inning of the first test match against New Zealand.
He took ten wickets in the two-match series and then finished his stats in ODI series with five wickets becoming second-highest wicket taker in ODIs for Bangladesh and highest wicket taker in Test series for Bangladesh team.
In the next series that was played against South Africa in South Africa, though Bangladesh lost every match of the tour Shakib had a prime form in bowling.
He was leading wicket taker in the tournament along with Ntini. In the coming series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, Shakib Al Hasan continued his bowling and supporting batting form.
In early 2009, Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to top ICC All-rounders rankings in ODI format. In mid-2009, Shakib was appointed as vice-captain of Bangladesh for the series against West Indies.
The tour proved to be fruitful for Shakib and Bangladesh as they won their first ever test against West Indies and second one overall. Shakib took charge as a captain on the last day of the test and took Bangladesh home with a serious victory.
The victory led to open a door for future success for Bengal Tigers. It resulted in a clean sweep series win as a captain of Bangladesh for the rest of the tour.
He was also awarded man of the match and series at the end of the test series. In the following ODI series, it was again Shakib all over the game-winningman of the series award in ODI series, this time with a 3-0 whitewash to the hosts.
Under Shakib’s new fangled captaincy, Bangladesh went on o win two ODI series in a row, this time against Zimbabwe on their home soil by 4-1. Later, he was nominated for ICC Test Player of the Year award and cricketer of the year award for the year 2009.
In 2011 World Cup co-hosted by Bangladesh, Bangladesh had their worst ODI performance getting out for 58. The Angry mob stoned Shakib’s house and West Indian bus in the aftermath.
The only noticeable came against England, but Bangladesh was out of the tournament in the first round, the only Asian team to be eliminated at the first stage.
In the Asia Cup 2012, Bangladesh hosted the cup and defeated India and Sri Lanka to reach the finals where Pakistan defeated them by two runs.
Shakib scored three fifties and six wickets claiming the number one spot in ICC All-rounders ranking back from Shane Watson. He was declared player of the tournament.
The next series against Australia couldn’t prove to be a great success as Bangladesh lost 3-0 and Shakib lost his position as the best all-rounder. After Shakib had been sacked for poor results as a captain, he continued as a key player in the team.
In December 2011, Shakib regained his position as the best all-rounder in Test Cricket scoring a century and a couple of the fifties and a five-wicket haul in a two-match series.
The only controversy till now in the biography of Shakib Al Hasan was the NOC dispute between him and BCB and the ban of six months by Bangladesh Cricket Board from all forms of International and League cricket.
The ban was later reduced to three months after he agreed to terms and conditions, he was set free to participate in any Cricket League without NOC.
Most Successful Year
2015 was the most successful year for Bangladesh overall. Bangladesh witnessed their best year in cricket history. Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan, won against India and then the touring South Africa team later. Shakib Al Hasan was the person behind Bangladesh’s success in all the three series win.
Shakib Al Hasan in League Cricket
Shakib was part of Khulna Division before he joined the national side, it was also his homeside. Shakib was also called by Worcestershire in 2010 season of County Cricket, Shakib became the first Bangladeshi player to get a call from England.
Shakib was short-listed for drafting in 2009 season of IPL but wasn’t selected at that time. In 2011, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for the first time. Shakib was instrumental for KKR in reaching semifinals.
He took 11 wickets becoming the third-highest wicket taking bowler for the franchise in 2011 season of the league. After a successful IPL season, Shakib was retained by KKR for the 2012 season.
He was a man of the match in two games and contributed for his team to win the IPL 2012 season. In the same year, Bangladesh started their Bangladesh Premier League, and Shakib was featured as ‘icon player’ for 2012 season for Khulna Royals, his hometown franchise.

In 45 test matches, Shakib scored 3146 runs at an average of 39.76 with four centuries and 19 half-centuries. He has the highest score of 217 against New Zeland.
His bowling average is 33.90 with 159 wickets and 14 five-wicket-hauls. In 166 ODIs, Shakib Al Hasan scored 4650 runs at 34.70 average and 220 wickets.
His highest score was 134 not out in ODIs. In 54 T20 internationals, he scored 1103 runs with average nearing 24 with the highest score of 84.
Records
Shakib Al Hasan is the second highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in all formats of cricket. He is only the seventh player to score at least 4000 runs along with 200 wickets in ODIs.
Shakib is the third player to score a century and completed ten wickets in a single test match. He is first Bangladesh player to score 4000 ODI runs.
Shakib Al Hasan also became the first cricketer to top ICC ODI, T20i, and Test rankings as the best all-rounder at the same time.

Shakib Al Hasan family comprises his parents, wife, and a daughter. He was born on 24th March 1987 to Shirin Reza (mother) and Khondokar Masroor Reza (Father) in Khulna.
Shakib married Umme Ahmed Shishir in 2012. Shakib Al Hasan wife is a Bangladeshi-American national; both met after a county match in England in 2011. Shakib had his first dau7ghter Aleena Hasan Aubrey in 2015.
