Virender Sehwag was born on 20thOctober 1978. His father was an upper-middle-class grain merchant of Haryana, Punjab.

Sehwag had a depressive International start, he waited for the next chance, and he got it 20 months after the Pakistan series. It was Zimbabwe Vs India; Sehwag scored a half century in the fourth match.
Otherwise, it wasn’t an impressive start for any young lad. After two years, Sehwag finally got an ODI century against New Zealand off 69 balls; it was the third fastest century ever by an Indian cricketer.
The next year, Sehwag smashed Kenya bowling with a 22-ball fifty being the second fastest fifty maker for India. 2002 was going well and smooth for Virender Sehwag, he was moved to the top order replacing Sachin Tendulkar, and he amassed 426 runs in the calendar year 2002. It was just a start of a bright career; he made four half-centuries at an average of 42.6 per inning.

India had a rough World Cup campaign, they only got victorious against Bermuda where Sehwag scored a quick century helping India to set the record of highest ODI total ever, the record was later bested by England against Pakistan in a home series where they tore apart Pakistani bowling lineup making 444-3 in 2016.

The 219 runs off 149 balls was the first and fastest double century by any Indian batsman in ODIs. Sehwag loves to chase the target, 60% of his centuries came in a chasing situation, and his strike rate i.e. 103.44 is only below Shahid Afridi.
He is one of the quickest run-scorers in World Cricket though Afridi is no match to Sehwag due to an extremely low average of Shahid Afridi as compared to Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag is a brilliant and one of the most aggressive T20 international players. Apart from International T20 matches, Virender Sehwag batting average is tremendous in IPL. In 96 IPL innings, Sehwag scored 2629 runs with an impressive average of 28.9 per innings.
He has played 7 matches for his franchise in Champions League T20 scoring 208 with an average above 34 per inning.
Sehwag started as a captain for Delhi DareDevils and ended as a captain for DD, he handed over the captaincy to Gambhir to concentrate more on batting, later due to franchise flip, he again becamethe captain and the only player to be retained by Delhi team.
Appealing Controversy in 2001
Sehwag was the main character of 2001 controversy between BCCI and ICC, Mike Denness banned six Indian players for excessive appealing, and Sehwag was one of them. India after threatening not to play the match forced South African Cricket Board to prohibit the official match referee from entering the ground, the tensions escalated, and ICC declared the game as unofficial.
Later, ICC imposed on India to ban Virender Sehwag from playing one test match, it was a disappointing stage of the career for Sehwag. He tried to retire from international cricket; somehow, senior players prevented that from happening.
